Although Edward himself needs NOOOOO introduction, you may not have had the privilege of meeting Flat Edward. Yet.
You've heard of Flat Stanley, though, right? The small flat boy who gets mailed around from place to place? Well, Flat Edward is not much different--though he is a little too large for the mail--38X26" to be exact--so being passed from person to person is how Edward will make his rounds.
His epic journey will begin on Valentine's Day 2009, and from there (if all goes as planned) he will transfer ownership weekly, while his travels are documented right here on this blog so we can follow his trail and get insight into what he does at each stay.
Here's his background so far.
Edward was acquired after being hotly fought for at a white elephant exchange on New Year's Eve. He spent six weeks on a wall here at my house...OK, a wall in my garage.--my husband was not exactly up for displaying Edward over the fireplace. But it's not as remote as it might sound. We are doing a remodel in our home and there has been a steady stream of builders, electricians, window installers, and all kinds of workers marching through the garage over these weeks. Incidentally, all males, and therefore not as fully appreciative of Edward as Edward deserves. So he is ready for a new home, a new shrine, a new clan of devoted fans.
Check back weekly with the Flat Edward blog to read different accounts of Edward, and see pictures from those fortunate enough to have been blessed with his presence.
Will you get Flat Edward next?
The only rules for hosting Edward are:
1. You must pass him on after a week (think hot potato)
2. You must document his week with you and share it with us! (An email to send info to will be provided on the back of Flat Edward.)
3. He must be passed on in a worthy way. In other words, be creative when you are ready to pass him along. You may choose the sneaky, stealthy route, or perhaps a more public venue for the changing of hands...but whatever you do...go big. We think Edward would appreciate it.
Edward will be presented as a dance off gift at an 80's Valentine's dance tomorrow night. GO EDWARD! GO EDWARD! Can't wait to see where he goes from there! Please check back with us soon.
Edward being opened for the first time. Note the joy on Jenny's face! But of course, this white elephant was the hot pick of the night, so her time with Edward was very short-lived.
Here you see Brigham and Jenn to the right of Edward (our right). There is a reason for their mischievous smiles...they were the gift givers of Edward that night. Little did they know they had just given the gift that will keep on giving for a long time to come!
And me, the victorious winner of Edward in the last few moments of 2008.
